In this work we show the results of a study about the impact of a successful detection of an ETI signal. This study has been done with a significant sample from a typical city in Spain. We have also tested the correlation between the degree of impact and age, cultural environment, ethical, religious, and political tendencies. Finally, we present a reflection on the degree of popularity of SETI.
